The Melbourne Magic Festival, celebrating its 10th year, is proud to announce that the Canadian magic musical, THE LADY’S GUIDE TO DECEIT AND DEBAUCHERY will play its premiere run from July 5th-8th at 8:15 pm at the at the Northcote Town Hall. This all female, queer positive show takes you on a magical adventure into the life and mind of two of the world’s most unusual queer socialites, Lucy and Lily Darling. Think Zsa Zsa Gabor meets Mae West with a dash of Doctor Who. It’s a little bawdy, a little drag and a lot hilarious.
Melbourne audiences will be treated to the performances by the award-winning talent of Carisa Hendrix and Jamie Tognazzini. Hendrix is a circus stunt girl and magician featured in the Guinness Book of World Records (2014 Book, Page 86), Ripley’s Believe it or Not (2015 Book) and best known for the Super Channel documentary Carisa Hendrix: Girl on Fire released in October of 2016, which followed her show to the Vegas strip where she opened her original, all girl, Magic and Illusion show. Jamie Tognazzini is a respected musical theatre artist, circus performer and dancer who has had an amazing year performing as part of Vertigo Mystery Theater recent smash it The Drowning Girls.
Carisa Hendrix’s LADY’S GUIDE TO DECEIT AND DEBAUCHERY is a playful, queer positive, musical with original music and unconventional magic. Hendrix is excited that “the show we have in store for Melbourne audiences incorporates all our various skills and talents. They are going to see fire eating, magic, art, dance and most importantly the Ladies. Two incredibly lovable characters that will hopefully bring up a few important issues.”
