South Australian family winery Taylors Wines created a one of a kind experience for wine lovers allowing them to chill with the perfect glass of vino amongst the setting of one of the most illustrious cities in the world. Far from its Clare Valley home, together with Masterchefs, Will Stewart and Steve Flood, presented the world’s first floating cellar door.
“Taylors Cellar Door at Sea [set out] to prove just how delicious chilled reds can be, especially during summer. And by combining the perfect view in one of the world’s most notable destinations, we had all the elements to create the perfectly chilled wine experience.” said third-generation winemaker, and managing director Mitchell Taylor.
At what a successful voyage it was. For one weekend only, the exclusive event took place aboard the custom-built glass-lined tasting room set upon a floating barge in the middle of the harbour. Flaunting some of its most recognised wines, Taylors showcased the innovative optimum drinking temperature sensors to the lucky few who get a spot to the exclusive event.
Transportation to and from the pop-up was by water taxi where world class views were enjoyed aboard the 40 foot converted shipping container.
The temperature-themed wine tasting served a premium selection in Riedel Extreme glassware, all guided by British chef-duo and friends to Taylors, Will Stewart and Steve Flood including:
- Coconut and Spanner crab tart, avocado, kefir lime, jalapeño, caviar
- Smoked Brisket Pastrami sandwich, olive, feta, mustard, horseradish, pickles
- Whipped goats cheese, pickled baby fig, truffle honey, pistachio
All of this created in the hope that guests will discover, through temperature, the secret ingredients to the perfect glass of wine.
