Donatella reassured everyone in a recent article in the The Financial Times wondering why people in the industry seemed to think “Versace is becoming like Michael Kors, a medium, lower line” – with respect of course.   The collection demonstrated that despite all the behind the scenes changes in ownership, creative control and collections on the runway  remained to house style.

There were themes that harked back to an era that unleashed Gianni’s playful side in the 1990s with a 2019 update thanks to the mainstream appeal of films like 50 Shades of Grey.

The abstract take home message from the unveiled collection seems to be one that opens the floor up to men giving them the freedom to delve into new territory of couture through bold colour choices and a mainstream friendly and playful tone of BDSM.   Loud accents in foot wear and scarves on traditional looks update the wardrobe this Winter with a notion to stand out while cleverly still being able to blend in.

BONDAGE ICONOGRAPHY:
Printed harnesses appeared on T-shirts, leather pans, also accentuated on open-backed black silk jackets for men and women1.001

FLUORO ACCENTING:
Eye popping lace linings, bold colour pieces standout in conventional sports and tailored silhouettes . 1.001

COLOUR THEORY:
Black and Red dominated and are essential to the color palette of the season. 1.001

Be a man.  Uncompromising.  Playing by your rules.
