Main attractions hitting the big screen this month include the much anticipated The Fast and Furious spin-off, we re-enter the world of the Matrix as it turns 20 years old,  while Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio team up for the latest film by Quentin Tarentino!

Thursday 1 August – Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw:  Lawman Luke Hobbs and outcast Deckard Shaw, who form an unlikely alliance when a cyber-genetically enhanced villain threatens the future of humanity. Starring an all-star action cast including Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Idris Elba.

Featuring Bryan Brown, Sam Neill, Greta Scacchi and Jacqueline McKenzie.

Monday 12 August – To Catch a Thief: Rewatch old favourite’s again on the big screen in Event Cinemas’ monthly Hollywood Classics sessions! Showing in August is To Catch a Thief, a 1955 American romantic thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, featuring classic Hollywood heavyweights Cary Grant and Grace Kelly.

Thursday 15 August – Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood visits 1969 Los Angeles, where everything is changing, as TV star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) make their way around an industry they hardly recognise anymore. The ninth film from the writer-director features a large ensemble cast and multiple storylines in a tribute to the final moments of Hollywood’s golden age.

Join Event Cinemas for a very special Anniversary Screening for one night only! Cinebuzz members can see it for only $8.

August Seniors Morning Tea Screenings: Join Event Cinemas for special senior’s screenings with complimentary morning tea before the film. SeeThe Public on 7 August, Palm Beach on 14 August, A Dog’s Journey on 21 August and Blinded by the Light on 28 August.

August In the House screenings: Some of the industry’s most celebrated films are set to return to the big screen at Event Cinemas as part of In the House! Join Ryan and Draz from Movie Nerds as they review celebrated screen classics. First film up is Aliens on 5 August followed byDeliverance on 19 August (In the House screenings shown at select cinemas).
