Moonlight Cinema opened last week, bringing with it another blockbuster summer of entertainment under the stars. Returning to picturesque parklands in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, film-fanatics across the country can recline on a plush bean bed under the stars or unfurl a picnic blanket and unwind amidst the lively festival atmosphere.  A series of phenomenal activations to complement screenings across the country.

The phenomenal December/January program is jam-packed with acclaimed summer blockbusters, cosy Christmas flicks, fan favourites, and hotly anticipated family-friendly films.

Savour the silly season with Moonlight’s sensational selection of Christmas flicks: from quirky rom-com Last Christmas, starring Emilia Clarke as a disillusioned department store worker who unwittingly falls head over heels for the unlikeliest of suitors; to quintessential Christmas classic Home Alone; and Bruce Willis’ festive 80s action blockbuster Die Hard.

Moonlight’s fan favourite program will also screen two of the biggest Christmas blockbusters ever, Love Actually and Elf.



Moonlight’s fan favourites are back, voted for by popular demand! Catch the iconic date night flick Dirty Dancing, megahit musical The Greatest Showman and 20th year anniversary screenings of mind-bending classic The Matrix.


Celebrate under the stars with the whole family at one of Moonlight’s hotly anticipated kid friendly films including: Frozen 2 which sees the beloved original cast reunite on an intrepid journey to find the origin of Elsa’s powers and save their kingdom; Jumanji: The Next Level, chronicling the gang’s return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own and escape the world’s most dangerous game; and relive the magic of The Lion King while the sun sets around you.


From action-packed blockbusters, to critically acclaimed award contenders – Moonlight returns with a plethora of must-see summer films. Witness Joaquin Phoenix’s universally acclaimed portrayal of the iconic Batman villain in chilling blockbuster Joker; and solve a dramatic murder mystery along with an all-star cast in the new who-dunnit, Knives Out, starring Daniel Craig, Chris Evans and Aussie favourites Toni Collette and Katherine Langford.


Films based on fascinating true stories include: Ford v Ferrari, starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale, chronicles the legendary story of an American car designer’s mission to build a revolutionary race car for Ford; and Bombshell, starring Margot Robbie, Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron, which explores the explosive true story of the women who brought down Fox News head Roger Ailes and the toxic environment he presided over at the network.

A special Western Sydney Edition brings the season’s biggest blockbusters, hottest new releases and certified cult classics to The Amphitheatre at Lizard Log, Western Sydney Parklands – Sydney’s Biggest Backyard! The season will run for a limited time only from 1 January to 2 February, 2020.
