Taylors Summer House of Shiraz is set to kick off summer in style, offering Sydneysiders an exclusive, temperature led wine and food tasting experience dedicated entirely to red wine. Family-owned Taylors Wines have partnered with celebrity chef and My Kitchen Rules star Will Stewart, to challenge the notion that red wines can’t be a staple for summer sipping. It turns out all varietals of red can be just as refreshing in summer as they are in winter when the myth of ‘room temperature’ is busted and they are served at their optimum drinking temperature.
The Summer House of Shiraz will open its doors [and private jetty] to guests this weekend Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December at a secret Point Piper location. The open-air villa and subtle styling allow one of Australia’s prettiest harbourside destinations to do the talking. Guests will be transferred via private water taxi from Rose Bay to the Summer House to take part in unique temperature led tastings. Once ashore, the 90-minute immersive experience will commence as they explore red wines served at their optimal temperature.
From Pinot Noir, to Tempranillo, through to glorious Shiraz – the Summer House will be the hottest spot in Sydney to chill with a glass of red. Guests of the House will have time to relax, play a game of bocce on the waterfront lawn or simply relax and soak up the summer vibes while overlooking stunning Sydney Harbour.
Cheeky Pommy celeb-chef Will Stewart will be cooking up a storm with a selection of seasonal dishes to that celebrate temperature and the red varietals on show.
“This is one of the most unique wine events of the year – summer, red wine, chilled temperatures and a beautiful location,” said Stewart. “While it all comes down to your preferred taste, we think the Summer House will be a fantastic experience that shows just how delicious your favourite Shiraz or Cabernet can be when served slightly chilled. We can’t wait to open the doors and show wine lovers just how easy it is to enjoy their wine at the perfect temperature,” said third generation Managing Director and Winemaker Mitchell Taylor.
Tickets are $55 each (plus booking fee) and include return private water transfers to and from the Summer House from Rose Bay with limited availability for the 7pm session at time of writing.
