Last week 70 resourceful Hit105 listeners competed in Brisbane’s Biggest Game of Hide and Seek in the North Shore Eat Street Markets for the chance to win a $50,000 BMW 1 Series. After being given five minutes to hide, Hit105’s Stav, Abby and Matt worked as a team to find all but twelve of the contestants, until the searing Brisbane heat caused the game rules to be revised to ensure the contestants’ safety.
The BMW key was then hidden on site and the remaining contestants set loose to find it.
Within seconds, Jenna Harrington from Wellington Point found the key hidden in a bush and drove away victorious in her new BMW.
Jenna had managed to avoid detection for nearly two hours by lying in the foetal position under a camouflage sheet behind a Doughnut van. Originally from Portsmouth in the UK, Jenna and her husband have lived in Brisbane for 11 years, where they have their own flooring business. Says Jenna ‘We currently drive a 2012 Holden Commodore so now that we have the BMW we will be able to sell the Holden and use that money to clear our credit card debt’.
Stav, Abby and Matt praised the ingenuity and perseverance of their listeners, some of whom came up with some extremely clever hiding methods including one listener who concealed herself inside a magnetised aluminium foil duct.
Stav, Abby and Matt are on summer break and will return to hit105 Breakfast in mid-January. Grant Denyer and Yvie Jones will host a national summer breakfast show across the Hit Network from next Monday.
