If hotpot is a hassle in your group because of differing preferences in broth and spice levels, than this two level casual dine option is for you. It just opened up on George Street two days ago with perfect timing just as the mercury drops this weekend.
Choose between rice and noodle accompaniments, and your main protein of – pork, beef or lamb. The spicy broth is filled with the eyewatering chilli pepper filled with enoki mushroom, quail eggs, tofy, cabbage, bamboo, crab, fish ball, yuba and blood jelly.
Never really been a fan of blood jelly, but the rest of its components work for me and it’s a hearty meal to have this winter. Interestingly, the origins of this dish are found in Mongolia circa 1100A.D. with the primary proteins used including horse, mutton and its spread across region to region throughout China can explain why this communal dining experience will be hard to fit across your group with that many variations to choose from today. Thanks to One Pot though – problem solved. Communal hot pot dining can still be enjoyed without compromising the yearnings of your tastebuds.
Each burner doesn’t take as much room on the table as you’d think and the full kit also includes side dishes of tofu, vegetable and rice. Make sure to ask for extra napkins, cause no matter how hard you try, things always get messy!
A timely addition to the dining scene as we enter peak soup season.
