It was cause for celebration. After a seven day mission of staggered daily visits to Woolworths Haymarket, literally right next door, this happy diner was lucky to procure one of the last three ten packs of one of the most coveted commodities of the season.
No joke – seven days, a special thankyou to Novotel, The Quay and Market City for your support during the bog roll shortage last week. I took pictures of your bathrooms for my flatmates who needed a much needed lesson in hygiene in addition to the mandatory social distancing policies.
After walking past this place for months everytime we do groceries it took a pandemic to make us stop and smell the roasted coffee beans…
It’s been a strange week, it’s like being on holiday, but after a city has been hit by a bomb. There’s a sense of freedom when celebrating little wins of toilet paper by treating yourself to Double Angus Burger with bacon, lettuce and tomato and chips for breakfast, but there’s almost something but at the same time, a sense of eerieness as we accept full blown meals we would usually enjoy sitting down to dissect superficially in a recycled box and uber eats carry bag.
These little box of happiness will set you back $22 without the coffee. It’s quite generous, two sittings were required when taking it back home to get through it.
