One of the best things about living in the city is the colourful walk to the supermarket. It seems the passed four attempts at failing to find antibacterial wipes and hand sanitiser has ended up with sushi, banh mi, rice bowl and meat pie substitutes.
It’s also quite heartbreaking to see the dining scene stripped down to its basics with families, owners and the city fighting to survive one of the harshest periods many of us have ever witnessed.
Many in this part of town are on Ritual so you can plan your departure from home so its perfectly timed to when your dish will ready at the restaurant so there’s minimal loitering in or around the venue and other public / communal spaces on the route.
I’m told by the owner these specials that invite you in at the entrance to Steam Mill Lane are something they are trying to do daily, but otherwise, some amendments / simplifying to the main menu as shown above in their outdoor signage have been made.
The portions are satisfying and generous and the rice bowl is served hot with the grains drenched in gravy as thin beef slices weave through the cylindrically aquarium of comfort.
The perfect reward and climax on a Sunday afternoon walk.
