I find the best value venues in this part of Chinatown starting from Ultimo Road walking away from Market City.  They’re usually not on Menulog or Uber Eats and typically wont have to be listed on those guides because of the natural footfall of the area and the reputation they earn as local favorites for quick and easy take out or casual dining.

The beef brisket dish in a chilli gravy and beef mince is hearty, tender and quite substantial for the price in comparison to neighbours which are also priced similarly.

The salt pepper calamari was a little too bready and would have done better with less batter.

It could have worked with more of that spring onion, fried garlic and chilli garnish actually.

Sweet and sour pork is nothing to throw a parad eover, but it’s one of the three go-to dishes when satisfying Chinese food cravings.

The view into the kitchen if you’re lucky will showcase the handmade crafting of noodles as you cook to order…

The beef and flat rice noodles above tossed in an oyster sauce were great, just as the fresh egg noodles in the seafood soup below.

Jam packed full of boc choy, squid, prawn, mussels and fish balls, this is definitely the seasonal favorite that I’ll be back for, but maybe with fresh chilli.

Not too many groups can be accommodated here, but it’s a pretty slick space for couples that is a step up from the usual food court feels many restaurants in the area seem to take on by default.

Another go to dish is the Shandong chicken with its paradoxical vinegar and sweet soy against the crispy skin of poultry which seeps into the accompanying rice.

When it comes to the full portion meat dishes (without rice that is) – from what I gather they’re definitely worth the splurge and quite substantial comparison, but don’t quote me on that because I’m coming back for this dish and will be comparing the takeaway version of this epic dish!    The spieces in this are right there in the better adding to the zing of the dish.
