GRiZ’s album signals a nod to oldschool dubstep flavours, influenced by early UK dubstep, and is presented in the form of a mixtape with 23 tracks and to commemorate today’s release, fans were let in to a 54 minute teaser last night, “Rainbow Brain: The Movie”. It’s a vivid expression of the album through live performance and brings the album concept to life.
GRiZ’s trademark bass wobbles are prominent throughout, as are his usual funky musical threads, combining to great effect in new duibstep album, Rainbow Brain is a kaleidoscopic smorgasbord of bold colours, sound and visuals, the truest reflection of his creative self to date.
The album also features collaboration with other prominent names in the scene, such as Jantsen, ProbCause and Big Gigantic. GRiZ has had great success in the past year, with tracks such as ‘GRiZtronics’ with Subtronics hitting #1 trending spot on Tik-Tok. Rainbow Brain follows up from his last album, Ride Waves, which saw him bring in features from the likes of Snoop Dogg, Matisyahu and DRAM. GRiZ is an advocate for LGTBQ rights having come via a Huffington Post guest post, and champions expression in whatever form that takes. With this album, he highlights that message clearly. GRiZ will also be premiering the Rainbow Brain movie tonight, announced via a teaser on his socials, where he will bring that vision to life via fully immersive theatrical performance made of four different environments transporting the viewer into a different universe, with a combination of IRL bespoke production and virtual elements that plays out like a movie.
