The Naked Magicians, Tivoli Brisbane

(L-R) Christopher Wayne, Fernanda Guimaeres and friend, Mike Tyler.

Opening Night was like visiting a mate’s place for drinks and sharing hilarious and crude jokes. I had the pleasure of meeting the very charismatic duo, Christopher and Mike after their hilarious act full of card tricks, illusions and barrels of laughs. It was very interactive with alot of audience participation, being teased and messed around with. For everyone that missed out on the final two shows due to lockdown, don’t stress, your tickets are still valid for the newly announced rescheduled dates in October. Chris and Mike released a statement on the site earlier:

We are absolutely shattered that we’re forced to postpone our Brisbane Comedy Festival shows at The Tivoli due to another government lockdown. Although this is completely outside our control, we apologize for any inconvenience caused and we thank you for your understanding. We’ll be more ready than ever to get on stage and make you laugh with the world’s funniest and naughtiest magic show in early October. Please support live theatre and retain your tickets… we can’t wait to get naked for you at The Tivoli!”

Breathe & Connect Event, Nobbys Beach Surf Club, Gold Coast

It’s one of the most understated mechanisms of the human body that for the most part we aren’t aware of. Yet breathing is fundamental to every part of daily functioning and physical training. Leading an active lifestyle not only requires physical recovery, but mental recovery and recharging too. It can help improve core muscle stability to help your body’s ability to tolerate intense exercise and lowering incidence of injury, as well as focusing the mind to tune in to the present moment, boosting energy and optimise cognition. Hosted by our own Health Editor, Chris Walker, join the Travel Fit Tribe in person and keep updated on their Facebook page for planned virtual events.

Navala Churrasco, Eagle Street Pier

A time ownered tradition in my native Brazil, while international borders are closed, this place reminds me of home. Churrasco is a 19th century past time born from the South American cowboys, we call gauchos. They were great horseback riders from the rural areas and there’s nothing like skewered cuts of meat cooked over the embers of a fire allowing the natural flavours to emerge and bathe in the succulent juices. Large family gatherings as the hosts slice slabs of beef, lamb, chicken, pork and more straight onto your plate, just like the gauchos did when they would entertain at large gathering with family and friends.

Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq ‘SHOWTIME’

(Top L-Bottom R) SHOWTIME ARCHIE BROTHERS Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane – Richard Reid (Entertainment Reporter Channel 9), Keyz of Kelly & April Rose Pengilly (Neighbours), Marley Erin, Ben from Brisbane (Big Brother) with mother and Fernanda Guimaeres (TNR Features writer), Chris Walker (TNR Health Editor) with Winsonn Lamm and friends, James Ma & Jacob Svedjdik, Joseph Lloyd (TNR Entertainment Editor), Porcelain Alice, Heng Lim.

It’s been a rocky road after the national launch across all sites of Archie Brothers’ immersive experince, SHOWTIME, two of the Sydney dates and both Melbourne and Brisbane this past weekend were affected by the lockdown orders.

As previously reported, the popular bowling, laser tag, and gaming arcade for adults was hosting dozens of roaming circus acts for visiting guests.

Some reprieve as Melbourne’s dates have been rescheduled to 21 August while all sites go ahead as planned September 11, October 9 and 13 November between 7pm and 10pm.
