As punters prepare for the reopening of casinos, restaurants, cafes, function centres, take away food and drink premises, kiosks, micro-breweries / small distilleries, cellar doors, pubs, clubs and on-premises dining to return, Owner of The Glebe Hotel, Zelman Nissen teams up with Furphy to welcome back locals in a fun and quirky installation that attempts to take us back to pre-pandemic times. After three months of dormancy, locals lucky enough to see the sight of a full capacity venue spring back to life on a Friday night were treated to scenes inspired from Home Alone.

“The hospitality industry has been in a world of pain with venues like ours sitting idle, waiting for the day when patrons could return. We’re counting down the moment until our doors reopen, and figured why not get the party started early plus gee-up Sydneysiders and lift their spirits ahead of Monday’s reopening,” said Nissen.

It’s part of Furphy’s ‘Vaxxed to the Pub’ initiative, with brewer, Lion shouting Aussies at participating venues a free Furphy Refreshing Ale or Furphy Crisp Lager via the Myy App for those who prove that they are fully Covid-19 vaccinated from now until 31 December, 2021. Lion’s committed 30,000 kegs of beer to venues across the state in time for tomorrow’s re-opening, reuniting locals with the kig-fresh schooner they’ve been dreaming about for months!

“Who doesn’t love a great Aussie pub? We wanted to bring to life the spirit of Vaxxed to the Pub to remind Aussies just how much fun the pub can be once you’re fully vaccinated. It’s time to show some support for our hospitality mates by getting back to our local watering holes, and letting the cold ones and good times roll. Turn the taps on, the first round of refreshing Furphy’s are on us!,” said Lion Craft Director Malcolm Eadie.

The Glebe Hotel brought to life Vaxxed to the Pub with the special interactive display using mannequins this past Friday using disco balls and body cut outs. As restrictions begin to lift, drink responsibly!
