BROKEN HILL (NSW) – MUNDI MUNDI BASH 2022
Outback NSW’s biggest ever live music event, this August’s Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash is set to feature a slew of all-time Australian music greats including Midnight Oil, Jimmy Barnes, Missy Higgins, Kasey Chambers, Jon Stevens, Daryl Braithwaite and many more.
The three-day family-and-dog-friendly camping event will be staged on the spectacular Mundi Mundi Plains – the same location where festival headliners Midnight Oil filmed their iconic Beds Are Burning film clip and where Mad Max 11 was shot.
In addition to the music bill, the festival will also feature a stacked program of outback entertainment and activities including a Nutbush City Limits dance and Mad Max dress-up theme World Record attempts, plus daily morning yoga sessions, dunny door painting, Doggie ‘Fashions on the Plains’, the ‘Mundi Undi’ charity fun run, scenic helicopter flights, camel rides and more.
The event is BYO food and alcohol (although there are hospitality vendors on-site) – and children aged 11-and-under enter for free.

BIRDSVILLE RACES (QLD) – 140th ANNIVERSARY EDITION
The iconic Birdsville Races return this September to celebrate their historic 140th anniversary.
Australia’s most iconic outback race meet that’s often billed the ‘Melbourne Cup of the outback’, the Birdsville Races have been held since 1882 and continue to be a bucket list experience for intrepid travellers and punters the world over. The two-day spectacular of thoroughbred country racing has become synonymous with plumes of striking red dust as horses thunder down the legendary Simpson Desert track.
The iconic township of Birdsville – home to a general population of just 115 residents – swells to host thousands for a renowned 13-race carnival and unique outback entertainment and activities. Off the racetrack, punters are treated to a bumper lineup of outdoor film and live music, Fashions on the Field, cocktail parties, pub festivities and Fred Brophy’s famous travelling boxing troupe.
A much-loved charity element, the Birdsville Races also proudly support the Royal Flying Doctor Service, hosting a five-kilometre fun run to help fundraise for the vital service in the remote region.
