Parramasala: Many Cultures, One Sydney – March 15 to 17

The Festival promises to take things to the next level with the biggest celebration of Sydney’s vibrant cross-section of cultures yet: from South American to Middle Eastern, Indigenous Australian to South East Asian, and everything in between.   Crowds will also enjoy the breathtaking Opening Night Parade; the inaugural Long Table Sunday Brunch, a shared multicultural and interfaith feast for all members of the community; and the World Food Market, offering a culinary passport to a mouth-watering array of delectable delights, from Indian to Greek, Singaporean to Nepalese, featuring a special airline ticket giveaway competition courtesy of Singapore Airlines.

In search of the next rush, it’s Parramatta where we caught a preview of what’s in store for this year’s Parramasala Festival! A celebration of the multicultural fabric of the city, over 30 cultures will be celebrated in a spicy mix of parade, parties, exotic bazaar, food stalls, music dance, poetry, art, street performers and the annual cricket match hosted by Twenty20. . . Every year, the massive three-day extravaganza sees over 35,000 Sydneysiders converging on the streets, laneways and parklands of Parramatta. The city will transform into a cornucopia of awe-inspiring experiences, including cutting-edge live music, vivid dance and theatre, a breathtaking parade of splendid colour, spectacular costumes, and beating rhythms.

Western Sydney set to host bumper series of major events

Over the next nine weeks, Western Sydney will host more than six major events including Kidtopia, AUS-X Open, the inaugural MotorWorld Sydney, World Time Attack Challenge, NSW Golf Championships and Coates Hire Sydney 500.

“More people than ever before are coming to Western Sydney to enjoy the wealth of attractions, world-class restaurants and jam packed major events calendar set amongst the unique flora and fauna,” said Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events, Stuart Ayres,  “From free outdoor family events like Kidtopia at Parramatta Park to the chance to ride the Western Sydney wave at Wet’n’Wild Prospect, there really is something for everyone to enjoy.”
